Malaria-Antimalarial drug


Malaria is an ancient infectious diseases and mosquito-borne diseases that is caused by Plasmodium falciparum. Malaria is endemic in tropical and sub-tropical regions and caused million deaths each year.

A new dipeptide name is tolyprolinol which is isolated from the fungus name Tolypocaladium (sp. FKI-7981). The structure of tolyprolinol is elucidated as N-acetyl-L-phenylalanyl-L-prolinol. It is a show antimalarial activity but not has cytotoxicity or any other antimicrobial property.
