Holarrhena antidysenterica, commonly known as ‘Kurchi’, ‘Kurai’, ‘Inderjab’, ‘Kuda’, ‘Kautaja’, Indrajav, (Sanskrit),‘Kudaiya’, Bitter Oleander, Connessi Bark,, Dysentery Rose Bay, Tellicherry Bark. It is a glabrous tree or large shrub that is found throughout the year in low elevation Indian forests. Its bark, seeds, leaves, and flowers are widely used for several serious complaints such as anti-diabetic, dysentery, diarrhea, diuresis, dropsy and other diseases. The bark is anti-dysenteric, anthelminthic, febrifuge, astringent and stomachic while seeds are Antiperiodic and carminative.
